I'm often amazed to think back at my
time at Unionville
High and reflect on the quality and intensity of art
courses I experienced in the Arts York program.
Senior level students in Grades 11 and
12 were enrolled in Lifedrawing courses, where we had a
steady stream of models who came in and posed for us.
It was always a challenge for our teacher,
Kathy Chelin, to book new models as they were hesitant to
pose in front of high school kids. But so far as I know,
the classes were always well-behaved and the subject matter
was approached with a degree of maturity that I think left
a lot of people scratching their heads in wonder.
This particular piece was an extended
sitting, and I'm particularly proud of the draperies. The
nipples, alas, look vaguely metallic, but what else can
you expect from an 18 year-old sci-fi geek?
Good times...
